Will Smith and Michael Bay to Collaborate Again for Netflix’s ‘Fast and Loose’
Michael Bay is reportedly in discussions to direct the upcoming Netflix action film, ‘Fast and Loose,’ starring Will Smith. This project marks a potential reunion between Bay and Smith, who previously collaborated on the successful ‘Bad Boys‘ franchise. The film centers around a crime boss who suffers from amnesia and discovers he was living a double life as a CIA operative.
The screenplay for ‘Fast and Loose’ was developed by Jon Hoeber, Erich Hoeber, Chris Bremner, and Eric Pearson. The film has been in the pipeline for some time and was initially set to be directed by David Leitch. However, Leitch departed the project to focus on ‘The Fall Guy,’ an action-comedy featuring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt.
The producers of ‘Fast and Loose’ include David Leitch, Kelly McCormick, and Will Smith himself. In addition, STXfilms’ Robert Simonds and Noah Fogelson are attached as executive producers.
Bay and Smith’s previous collaboration in the ‘Bad Boys’ series proved commercially successful, with the most recent installment, ‘Bad Boys: Ride or Die,’ released in June 2023, grossing over $400 million worldwide. Bay’s last directorial project was the 2022 film ‘Ambulance,’ while Smith’s recent works include ‘Emancipation‘ released in 2022, and his Oscar-winning performance in ‘King Richard‘ (2021).
