Royal Caribbean Ships Changing Itineraries Hurricane

MIAMI, Fla. — Royal Caribbean is altering several cruise itineraries due to approaching tropical storms in the Atlantic, including Hurricane Humberto. This shift comes as the company prioritizes guest safety during the peak of hurricane season.

The Symphony of the Seas, originally scheduled for a week-long voyage to Florida and the Bahamas, will now head to Canada. The change was announced via email to guests, stating, “Along with our Chief Meteorologist, we’ve been closely monitoring the path of Hurricane Humberto and another tropical storm. Given the forecast, we’ve decided to sail to Sydney and Halifax instead, offering an overnight stay in Sydney and a full day in Halifax.” The new route represents a significant departure from the original itinerary.

Oasis of the Seas, initially set to visit Perfect Day at CocoCay, will instead dock in Nassau, Bahamas. Guests onboard were informed that the change aims to avoid potential storm impacts on their journey. Enchantment of the Seas will also reroute from its Bahamas plans to Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico, to ensure passenger safety.

The Utopia of the Seas, which departs today from Port Canaveral, will change its course to avoid stormy conditions. Originally slated to visit Nassau, the ship will now enjoy a sea day before heading to Perfect Day at CocoCay.

Additionally, Liberty of the Seas will alter its September 27 cruise to bypass Bermuda and visit St. John, New Brunswick instead. Freedom of the Seas will redirect to Cozumel in place of Grand Turk.

Royal Caribbean’s Chief Meteorologist emphasized that the safety and comfort of guests remain the primary concern while navigating weather threats. His updates reiterated that although storms may not directly threaten the mainland U.S., they could still impact vacation plans for cruising guests.

As guests adapt to these changes, Royal Caribbean has assured them that they will receive compensation, including onboard credits and Future Cruise Credits for the disruptions. The company remains committed to ensuring that the journey stays as enjoyable and stress-free as possible.
