Joe Burrow Injury Surgery Cincinnati Bengals

CINCINNATI, Ohio — Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has made his first public statement since undergoing surgery for a turf toe injury. In an Instagram post, Burrow wrote, “This game will break your heart. See you soon,” garnering a wave of supportive comments from fans.

Burrow sustained the Grade 3 turf toe injury during the second quarter of the Bengals’ Week 2 victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars. After the injury, he was taken to the locker room and did not return to the game. Bengals Head Coach Zac Taylor announced the surgery was successful, but no timeline for Burrow’s return has been provided.

According to reports, Burrow could miss at least three months, with his earliest possible return in December. In the meantime, Jake Browning has stepped in as the starting quarterback, a role he assumed after Burrow was placed on injured reserve.

The Bengals’ first game without Burrow was a tough one, resulting in a 48-10 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, marking the worst defeat in franchise history. The team’s record stands at 2-1 as they prepare for their upcoming Monday night matchup against the Denver Broncos.

While Burrow recovers, speculation is rising about potential trades. Reports suggest that the Bengals could target New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson, who has recently been benched. The idea is under consideration as the Bengals look to stay competitive in the playoff race.

Kickoff for the game against the Broncos is set for 8:15 p.m. on Monday night, and Cincinnati will aim to turn around their recent performance.
