76ers Face Raptors Without Embiid Amid Injury Concerns
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — The Philadelphia 76ers are set to face the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night without star center Joel Embiid, who is listed as doubtful due to a right knee injury. This marks Embiid’s fourth consecutive game missed this season as he continues to manage his condition.
The 76ers, currently 8-5, are hoping to maintain their momentum after a tight win over the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday. In that game, guard Tyrese Maxey led the team with 39 points, contributing significantly to their victory.
Despite Embiid’s absence, the 76ers have shown resilience this season, posting a 4-3 record without him. Maxey, along with teammates VJ Edgecombe and Quentin Grimes, will play crucial roles as the team faces a Raptors squad that has won eight of its last nine games.
The Raptors, entering the game with a record of 9-5, hold a slight edge as 1.5-point favorites. Their strong performance has been highlighted by effective play from Scottie Barnes and Brandon Ingram, making this matchup one to watch.
Wednesday’s game marks the first night of a back-to-back for the 76ers, who will travel to Milwaukee to face the Bucks on Thursday. While it remains unclear if Embiid will play in that game, his status has been upgraded slightly, which may indicate progress.
In addition to Embiid, the 76ers will also be without Kelly Oubre Jr. (left knee sprain), and Adem Bona (right ankle sprain). Paul George recently returned to action but will sit out Wednesday due to knee management. The game will be broadcast live on NBC Sports Philadelphia and TSN at 7:00 PM ET.
