Pete Davidson Discusses Challenges of Fame on Theo Von’s Show

New York City, NY – Comedian Pete Davidson addressed the fleeting nature of fame during an interview on This Past Weekend with Theo Von. He expressed concern over how quickly public opinion can change in Hollywood, pointing specifically to fellow actor Pedro Pascal.
Davidson, during the show, discussed various aspects of fatherhood, his late father’s memory, and the rapid shifts in popularity faced by actors. He remarked on the pressures that come with sudden fame, using Pascal as an example. “He’s worked so hard, he’s been a struggling actor, blows up so f**king hard, everyone’s like ‘daddy!’… and then a year later he’s like in everything now because he’s big and everyone’s like ‘go the f**k away dude!’” said Davidson.
His comments highlight a troubling trend in the entertainment industry where stars are quickly elevated and then just as rapidly criticized. Davidson reflected, “It’s like, what the f**k dude?? You’ve got to give someone time to adjust to that new level of fame… It’s like we build everybody up and now it’s so fast to turn [on them].”
Pascal, who gained prominence through shows like The Mandalorian and The Last of Us, has experienced both acclaim and backlash. Despite some viewers labeling him as “overexposed,” he continues to land significant roles and expand his career. Recently, Todd Haynes announced Pascal would replace Joaquin Phoenix in the upcoming film De Noche, set to begin production in Guadalajara, Mexico, in 2026, with Danny Ramirez also in talks to co-star.
Reports indicate that Pascal remains unfazed by the online criticism, focusing on new projects as adjustments are made to accommodate his schedule. Davidson’s remarks underscore the challenges of navigating fame and the unpredictable nature of audience reactions in today’s media landscape.
