SAN DIEGO, California (Dec. 29, 2025) – San Diego Wave FC announced today that they have mutually terminated the contract of goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan.

Camille Ashton, the Club’s Sporting Director and General Manager, expressed gratitude for Sheridan’s contributions to the team. “Kailen has been an integral part of this Club since day one,” Ashton said. “After discussions, we mutually agreed that this was the right decision for all parties. We thank her for the contributions to this Club and this city and wish her the best in the next chapter of her career.”

Sheridan joined the Wave ahead of its inaugural season in 2022 and made a significant impact on the team. She played in 87 matches, starting every one, and was recognized as the NWSL Goalkeeper of the Year in 2022. In 2025, she reached a milestone of 600 career NWSL regular season saves, becoming only the second goalkeeper in league history to achieve this feat.

The decision to part ways comes as both parties agree that it’s in their best interests. The Wave looks to build for the future after a strong run with Sheridan in goal.

Transaction details were confirmed as San Diego Wave FC mutually agreed to terminate Sheridan’s contract.
