Tran Wows ‘Dancing with the Stars’ with Sultry Viennese Waltz
During a recent episode of “Dancing with the Stars,” celebrity contestant Tran captivated both judges and the audience with a Viennese Waltz set to Alicia Keys‘ “Fallin'”. Performing alongside professional dancer Sasha Farber, Tran expressed that the dance was particularly meaningful due to her background as a competitive pianist for 12 years. “Learning piano was such a big part of my life, so to be able to dance to such a beautiful piece is going to touch a special place in my heart,” Tran stated.
The duo’s performance drew high praise from the judges. Veteran judge Bruno Tonioli described Tran as “a vixen,” declaring their routine “one of the sexiest” he has ever witnessed. Carrie Ann Inaba, another judge, echoed this sentiment by commenting on the palpable chemistry between Tran and Farber, noting that it enhanced their performance’s vibrancy. “You were outstanding,” Inaba proclaimed.
Rosie Perez, who served as a guest judge and brings experience as a former “Soul Train” dancer, praised the “hot” and “fly” nature of the performance. Meanwhile, Derek Hough commended Tran for making improvements in her frame, which he had previously critiqued, marking it as his favorite part of their dance. “Keep doing what you’re doing,” Hough advised. “Beautiful job.”
Tran and Farber’s routine earned them a score of 31 out of 40, with eights from Inaba, Perez, and Tonioli, and a seven from Hough. This achievement marked Tran’s first eights of the season, as noted by co-host Julianne Hough. The score placed Tran and her partner in third position on the night’s leaderboard.
“I’m speechless. Absolutely speechless,” Tran exclaimed following the announcement of their score. Addressing her partner, she remarked, “I have you to thank for it.” Fern did not partake in last week’s competition due to schedule changes, but a second episode is slated within the week.
According to a network news release, viewer votes from both competition nights will be tallied alongside the judges’ scores to determine which dancing pairs face elimination on October 8th. Notably, this episode will feature a double elimination. Fans are invited to vote during the show’s live broadcast and can also engage in online voting or SMS/text voting across participating U.S. wireless carriers. “Dancing with the Stars” airs simultaneously on ABC and Disney+ on Tuesdays at 8/7c, with repeat availability on Hulu the following day.
