Community Mourns Passing of Jerry Brown at Age 69
Tawas City, Michigan – Jerry L. Brown, a longtime resident of Tawas City, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, October 24, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on March 1, 1956, in Flint, Jerry was the son of Leslie Brown and Peggy Black.
After graduating from high school, Jerry started his career at Buick City in Flint, where he worked as a paint technician for 31 years before retiring. His dedication to his job was a significant part of his life.
In his personal life, Jerry enjoyed a variety of activities, including playing games, assembling puzzles, reading, and spending time outdoors. He found joy in cutting his lawn, golfing, camping, and boating. His family described him as a selfless and supportive husband and father, with a passion for spending quality time with them.
Jerry married his best friend, Karla Brown, on July 30, 1976. Together, they celebrated 48 years of marriage until her passing in March 2025. He is also preceded in death by his daughter, Robin Brown; his sister, Brenda Green; and his parents.
Jerry is survived by two daughters, Amy Brown of Phoenix, Arizona, and Kayla Lurvey of Tawas City; as well as his grandson, Austin Johnson of Phoenix; and siblings Sylvia Mead, Jimmy Brown, and brothers-in-law John and Jerry Freel.
A gathering to honor Jerry will be held at the Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City on Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
