LAS VEGAS (AP) — Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams made headlines last weekend with a dominant performance against the Dallas Cowboys, leading some to wonder if that game signals a turning point in his early career. The Bears are set to face the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, which could provide further insight into Williams’ development.

Bears coach Ben Johnson praised Williams’ attitude, stating, “When you have the approach that’s right, we’re going to continue to see him get better.” Williams earned the NFC Offensive Player of the Week award after the Cowboys game, but Johnson noted he remained humble during the recognition.

The Raiders are preparing for the version of Williams that impressed against Dallas. “He’s a very special athlete,” said Raiders coach Pete Carroll. “He’s got great awareness about throwing the football and running the football. He’ll be a prolific scrambler as his career progresses.” Carroll also acknowledged Johnson’s influence on Williams’ game.

While Williams is known for his strong arm and athletic skills, he has struggled with decision-making in the past, holding onto the ball for too long. A strong performance against the Raiders could solidify his status as the top overall pick.

<p“I have to focus on every moment. That was a good moment we had Sunday; now it’s time to move on to the Raiders,” Williams said.

On the other side, the Raiders’ Tre Tucker had a stellar game himself, setting personal bests with eight receptions, 145 yards, and three touchdowns. Fellow receiver Jakobi Meyers commended Tucker’s professional approach and dedication to improving his game.

The Bears have had an up-and-down season so far. After a disappointing performance in their opener against Minnesota, they bounced back with a powerful win against the Cowboys, creating four turnovers and holding Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott to 251 yards.

<p“The work we put in as a collective matters,” Bears safety Jaquan Stevenson said. “It allows us to trust each other and play free.”

On the ground, Bears running back D’Andre Swift is averaging 3.5 yards per carry, and rookie Kyle Monangai is at 3.4. Johnson acknowledged the running game’s struggles but emphasized that finding chemistry among new offensive linemen takes time.

The Raiders are typically strong on special teams, but they faced challenges last week, allowing several big plays. Carroll noted the need for improvement and fundamentals, stating, “It was too many big plays that led to an easy win for them.”

As both teams prepare for Sunday, all eyes will be on Williams and his ability to continue his upward trajectory against a tough Raiders defense.
