Christie Brinkley Reveals Skin Cancer Diagnosis And Urges Sun Protection

Renowned model and entrepreneur Christie Brinkley recently made a candid announcement on her Instagram, disclosing her battle with basal cell carcinoma, a prevalent form of skin cancer.

Brinkley shared the news reassuringly, emphasizing that the cancer was discovered early and successfully removed by skilled medical professionals, likening the results to haute couture Dior.

During her post, Brinkley stressed the importance of consistent sun protection in daily routines as she candidly admitted her belated serious embrace of SPF, long sleeves, and wide-brim hats.

The model recounted how the basal cell carcinoma was fortuitously detected during a visit to the doctor with her daughter, a small dot she inquired about eventually leading to a biopsy that confirmed the cancer.

Basal cell carcinoma primarily manifests on sun-exposed skin areas, such as the face, and is characterized by open sores, red patches, pink growths, shiny bumps, or scars, as per the Skin Cancer Foundation.

Brinkley urged her followers to prioritize regular medical check-ups and diligent application of sunscreen, reflecting on her personal experience and advocating preventive measures for early detection.
