Ocean Power Technologies Secures $5 Million Contract with DHS for Buoy Systems
MONROE TOWNSHIP, N.J., Jan. 06, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Ocean Power Technologies, Inc. (NYSE American: OPTT) announced it has been awarded a contract valued at over $5 million to deploy and operate four MERROWS-equipped PowerBuoy® systems for a mission supporting the U.S. Coast Guard under the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The systems are set to provide crucial maritime domain awareness off the coast of San Diego, California.
The PowerBuoys will be integrated into DHS’s chosen C5I environment, working alongside several surveillance towers operated by Anduril, another technology firm. The combined systems will form an integrated architecture designed to enhance situational awareness and improve detection capabilities for maritime operations.
