Solo Leveling Manhwa Artist Jin Military Service

SEOUL, South Korea — The artist of the popular manhwa, Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, announced a temporary hiatus to fulfill mandatory military service. Jin confirmed this news in chapter #68, which marked the end of the series’ second season.

In South Korea, military service is a requirement for every male citizen, lasting between 18 to 21 months, reflecting a long-standing cultural tradition. Jin, who has been involved with the Solo Leveling franchise since his youth, expressed his gratitude towards fans and his hope for the future of the series in a heartfelt letter.

Jin’s departure comes just after 22 chapters into the second season, during a gripping storyline involving battles and character developments, including a mysterious Ice Elf named Shika. Another artist from REDICE Studio, who has previously studied under Jin’s mentor, will take over the artistic duties.

“I believe that this is not an end; it is another period of preparation,” Jin wrote, reassuring fans that the transition will maintain the series’ integrity. He has urged readers to support the new artist who will continue the story of Solo Leveling.

The manhwa, initially created by Chugong, exemplifies the struggles of protagonist Sung Jinwoo, a weak hunter who gains incredible powers through a mysterious system. The series gained massive popularity, leading to adaptations in both anime and video games.

As discussions around the next anime season unfold, Jin’s hiatus raises questions about the future content pipeline, especially if Solo Leveling ever reaches the point of adapting the currently ongoing Ragnarok arc.

Despite the artist’s absence, the excitement around Solo Leveling remains high. Producer Atsushi Kaneko hinted at an “exciting” development for fans in 2026, potentially relating to further adaptations. As fans anticipate the new storyline and character developments, they are encouraged to remain patient during this transitional phase.
