Injury Report Mixed for Chargers Ahead of Colts Showdown

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — The Los Angeles Chargers face a mixed injury report ahead of their game against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. The team holds a 4-2 record but has endured numerous injuries since the training camp opened in July.
Right tackle Trey Pipkins III will miss a second straight game. Left tackle Joe Alt’s status is doubtful due to an ankle injury. This means the Chargers may rely on the same makeshift offensive line that protected quarterback Justin Herbert during their comeback win against the Miami Dolphins.
Herbert completed 264 yards and threw two touchdowns in that match, while running back Kimani Vidal rushed for a career-high 124 yards. Chargers offensive coordinator Greg Roman acknowledged the challenge against the Colts, who have a strong defense. “They’re turning the ball over like crazy. They’ve got some real difference-makers,” Roman said.
Defensive end Khalil Mack and linebacker Denzel Perryman are listed as questionable after sitting out multiple games with injuries. Coach Jim Harbaugh will rely on the medical staff to make the final decision concerning their play. “You’ve got 24 hours to make those decisions,” Harbaugh noted.
In addition to Alt, safety Elijah Molden is doubtful due to a thumb injury. Several other players, including wide receiver Derius Davis and linebacker Troy Dye, are also dealing with injuries but remain questionable.
The Chargers’ offensive line against the Dolphins included Austin Deculus, Zion Johnson, Bradley Bozeman, Mekhi Becton, and Bobby Hart, but may need Alt’s return to bolster their protection.
Vidal stepped up in his first NFL start after Omarion Hampton was placed on injured reserve. The team is facing a crucial matchup against the Colts, who lead the NFL in scoring with an average of 32.3 points per game. Despite their strong record, the Chargers have concerns regarding their run defense, which allowed over 100 yards to offensive players in previous games.
If the Chargers want to win, they’ll need to contain the Colts’ Jonathan Taylor and quarterback Daniel Jones. Both have been effective this season, with Jones completing 71.7% of his passes.
As the Chargers prepare for this important matchup, the health of their offensive players will be key. Harbaugh commented, “It all has to fall into place for us to win.”
