Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt Children's Book

LOS ANGELES, CA — Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt, an author and animal advocate, is set to release a new children’s book titled “Kat and Brandy” on November 4, 2025. The book aims to inspire bravery in children as they face their fears.

Schwarzenegger Pratt credits her childhood experiences with animals for shaping her as a mother. “My best friend growing up was my pony, Brandy, and I think that shaped who I am,” she said in an interview with Parents. The story follows a young girl named Kat, who finds the courage to continue horseback riding with the help of a rescue horse.

The author’s personal journey of overcoming fear informs the narrative. “This book is based off of me overcoming my fears of riding—being afraid of something, getting the confidence to work through it,” she explained. “I think that gives children a level of confidence at an early age, and it stays with you throughout adulthood.”

As a mother of three daughters, Schwarzenegger Pratt emphasizes the importance of self-reflection in her parenting. “I try to remind myself of my goals and intentions and my motherhood journey,” she said. She also credits her husband, Chris Pratt, with providing strong support.

“Having a partner that you can openly communicate with is a really important part of it,” she noted. The couple married in 2019 and shares daughters Lyla, 5, Eloise, 3, and son Ford, who is 11 months old. Schwarzenegger Pratt also acknowledges the guidance of her mother, journalist Maria Shriver, who instilled in her the importance of positive self-dialogue.

“The great gift that my mom gave us from the beginning was always an open line of communication that was judgment-free,” she said, which she hopes to replicate with her children. Her relationship with her siblings and father, actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, also helps her feel supported.

Schwarzenegger Pratt practices daily transcendental meditation, which she views as essential for staying present in her children’s lives. “I remember my sister calling me out on not being fully present… and she was totally right,” she reflected.

Despite facing criticism as a public figure, Schwarzenegger Pratt focuses on what is important to her family. “Being able to have a partner or a support system that you can talk to about those things helps,” she said. She concludes that her new book serves a vital purpose in helping children feel less alone in their fears.

“If I have one child read this book and see themselves in it… then this book will have served its purpose,” she stated.
