De'aaron Fox Basketball Contract 2023

San Antonio, Texas – De'Aaron Fox has agreed to a four-year contract extension worth $229 million with the San Antonio Spurs, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul confirmed to ESPN.

This maximum deal, which lacks a player option in its final year, ensures Fox will remain with the Spurs through the 2029-30 season. The extension follows Fox’s transfer from the Sacramento Kings to the Spurs earlier this year, as he expressed interest in playing in San Antonio.

Fox’s move to the Spurs was made possible following a trade in February, a decision he and Paul facilitated to secure Fox’s preferred destination. The Texas state has no income tax, making this deal more financially appealing compared to his previous residence in California.

In June, the Spurs selected another guard as the No. 2 pick in the NBA draft, further strengthening their young and talented backcourt alongside Fox. Along with Fox are rookie standouts Victor Wembanyama and Sidni Harp, creating a promising future for the franchise.

Last season, Fox played 17 games with the Spurs and averaged 19.7 points and 6.8 assists before undergoing surgery on March 18 to repair tendon damage in his left pinkie. He had sustained this injury during training camp the previous October.

Throughout his time with both the Spurs and Kings, Fox compiled averages of 23.5 points, 6.3 assists, and 4.8 rebounds over 62 games. Notably, he set a franchise record for points in a game after scoring 60 against the Indiana Pacers on November 15, 2023. Only one other player, Luka Dončić, had a 60-point game in the NBA last season.

Since entering the NBA in 2017-18, Fox has established himself as one of only two players to average at least 20 points, 5 assists, and 1 steal per game for six consecutive seasons, joining Dončić. He also ranks among the few players with over 10,000 points, 3,000 assists, and 700 steals during his career.
