Melbourne Storm star Cameron Munster has been placed on report following an alleged biting incident involving Penrith centre Paul Alamoti. The incident occurred during the 74th minute of a match on October 6, 2024. Referee Ashley Klein halted play to address the allegations made by Alamoti, yet Munster was not sent to the sin bin. Klein explained the decision, stating, “We can’t be certain. It is on report. We will deal with it later.”

The game, broadcast live on Fox Sports with continuous analysis from Kayo, turned contentious following the incident. Viewers were reminded of the similar incident earlier in the season when DragonsKyle Flanagan faced accusations of biting Stephen Crichton. The result of that incident was a five-week suspension for Flanagan.

During the live broadcast, Channel Nine commentator Mat Thompson noted: “The referee actually is saying we can’t prove anything, there is no penalty so play will continue as normal.” The situation was further discussed by former player Andrew Johns, who remarked, “Some will say he shouldn’t have had his arm there. But it is irrelevant.”

This development has drawn significant attention, given the parallels to past incidents in the league, and could influence upcoming disciplinary proceedings against Munster.
