Wendy Williams Ambulance Assisted Living Facility

NEW YORK, NY — Wendy Williams was transported by ambulance from her assisted living facility Monday after tossing a distress note out of her fifth-story window, prompting a wellness check by police around 11:15 a.m.

The 60-year-old former talk show host wrote, “Help! Wendy!!” on the note, which was observed by a photographer outside the facility. Following the note’s release, Williams was seen waving from her window before exiting the building with police assistance.

Williams has been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and has been fighting to end a court-ordered guardianship since 2022. Despite her health challenges, she had announced plans to make her return to daytime television on ABC‘s “The View” this Friday, marking her first appearance in four years.

Suzanne Bass, a former co-executive producer of “The Wendy Williams Show,” shared details of Williams’ scheduled appearance on Instagram, stating, “Prepping a very special friend for her appearance @theviewabc to air this Friday. #freewendy.” It remains unclear whether the segment will be filmed in person or through a phone call.

Williams has consistently maintained her mental soundness, claiming in a recent interview with TMZ that she is being unjustly confined in what she described as a “prison” and is not allowed to leave on her own. She previously filed a request to end her guardianship, stating her ability to function independently has returned.

Last month, a judge was informed by her guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, that she was open to having Williams undergo a new medical evaluation, acknowledging Williams’ assertions that she does not have dementia.

Following the ambulance incident, Williams emerged from the facility dressed in a T-shirt and leggings and appeared somber. Photos captured her walking to the ambulance with police assistance, underlining the gravity of her situation.

Her representatives have not responded to inquiries regarding the incident. Earlier this year, Williams expressed feelings of isolation while living in the assisted living center, sharing, “I am definitely isolated … I watch TV, listen to the radio. I watch the window. I sit here, and my life goes by.”

Williams’ recent struggles come after a prolonged absence from the public eye since 2021, when her health issues began to draw significant media attention. If her request to end guardianship is denied, sources indicate that Williams may seek a jury trial.
