ESPN Host Claims NFL Favors Chiefs Amid Celebrity Relationship

Don La Greca Kansas City Chiefs Nfl

New York, NY – ESPN New York radio host Don La Greca ignited a debate by suggesting that the NFL might favor the Kansas City Chiefs in their upcoming game against the New York Giants. Speaking on September 15, 2025, La Greca claimed the league would not allow the Chiefs to start their season 0-3, largely due to the high-profile romance between Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and pop superstar Taylor Swift.

The Chiefs have begun their season with two losses: first against the Los Angeles Chargers in Brazil, and then at home against the Philadelphia Eagles. As they prepare for their third game on September 21, 2025, at MetLife Stadium, La Greca believes the NFL has “too much on the line” to permit another defeat.

On his show, La Greca told listeners, “Call me a conspiracy theorist. The NFL is not going to allow the Kansas City Chiefs to lose that game on national television and be 0-3.” He humorously suggested that audiences might notice referee calls favoring the Chiefs during the game, saying, “we’re going to sit here next Monday and say there were at least three calls where we’ll wonder, how did that happen?”

La Greca linked the Chiefs’ potential need for assistance to the popularity of Kelce and Swift. He said, “the league just won’t allow it,” emphasizing that the NFL wants to keep their significant fanbase happy. The Giants, who also stand at 0-2 this season, offer an interesting backdrop to this match-up.

The Chiefs last started a season 0-3 in 2011, which led to the firing of head coach Todd Haley. Under current coach Andy Reid, the team has only one previous 0-2 start, back in 2014. Regardless of this speculation, the NFL is focused on the entertainment value of the game, especially with high-profile relationships shaping the narrative.

The upcoming game against the Giants is just the beginning of a tough schedule for Kansas City. In Week 4, they will face the Baltimore Ravens, followed by primetime games against the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Detroit Lions.
