Shooting in Downtown Tulsa Leaves One Dead, Several Injured

TULSA, Okla. – A shooting in downtown Tulsa early Sunday resulted in one death and multiple injuries, following an altercation among several individuals. The incident occurred around midnight near East Second Street and South Elgin Avenue, where hundreds of people were gathered in the area.
According to Tulsa police, the initial fight escalated into gunfire involving several participants. Officers arrived within minutes of the shots being fired. During the chaotic scene, police reported chasing one man who was shooting into the crowd, resulting in injuries. An officer then discharged his weapon, hitting and killing the shooter.
In total, investigators believe at least five people were hit by gunfire, though it remains unclear if there are additional victims. Many nearby businesses sustained damage during the incident, prompting police to reach out for surveillance footage that could provide more insight into the events.
“We already had a large police presence in the area, so the response was almost immediate,” said Lt. Andrew Weeden of the Tulsa Police Department.
The officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave as the investigation continues. No arrests have been made, and police are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.
