Los Angeles Gas Prices Hit Highest Mark Since June 2025

LOS ANGELES, California — The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County increased by four-tenths of a cent on Saturday, rising to $4.927. This marks the highest level since June 6.
Across California, the average price per gallon was recorded at $4.95 on Saturday, reflecting a 20-cent increase from the previous week. Although these figures are elevated, they are 32 cents lower than the average price reported one year ago.
According to the American Automobile Association (AAA), the recent spike in prices cannot be solely attributed to President Trump’s tariffs. Several factors are influencing the increase. “We’ve seen gas prices increase for multitudes of reasons. We’re switching to the summer blend, we’re seeing shortages at refineries, and demand is on the rise as more people embark on road trips during the warmer months,” said AAA spokesperson Gianella Ghiglino.
Over the past two weeks, gas prices have steadily climbed, with the average rising 27.8 cents in 14 out of the last 15 days. Current prices are now 16.3 cents higher than one week ago and 19 cents higher than one month ago, yet they remain 35.7 cents lower compared to the same time last year. In October 2022, prices peaked at a record $6.494.
In neighboring Orange County, the average gas price remained steady at $4.889. This figure represents the highest price since June 3. Over the past ten days, Orange County prices increased by 28.6 cents, and they are now 15.2 cents higher than last week and 19.4 cents more than a month ago. Still, they are down 37 cents compared to last year.
Nationally, the average price per gallon decreased by six-tenths of a cent, sitting at $3.262 after experiencing a rise in 11 of the previous 12 days. This price marks a 10.3-cent increase over the past week and a 15.5-cent jump from one month ago, but it is 32 cents lower compared to last year’s prices.
For individuals looking to save on gas, AAA recommends keeping vehicles well-maintained and comparing prices at various gas stations. City News Service, Inc. contributed to this report.
