Massive Fire Erupts in Northeast Albuquerque Near Edith and Montano

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A large fire broke out on Tuesday evening in northeast Albuquerque, specifically near the intersection of Edith and Montano. Fire crews responded to the scene at approximately 5:45 p.m. local time.
The blaze is reported to be consuming pallets, commercial vehicles, and nearby structures. Officials from Albuquerque Fire Rescue confirmed the location as 709 Nikanda Road NE.
Witnesses reported seeing thick smoke and flames from various locations in the area. One viewer stated, “I could see the flames from Coors and Irving.” Another witness described the scene, saying, “I just went out in the yard and saw the smoke. I live just north of Edith and Montano; it looks like the recycle yard again.”
Social media posts indicated that the fire might be near Sysco Foods and potentially affecting a tire shop, with one person noting, “It smells bad burning tires.”
