Actor Kanayo O. Kanayo Blesses Son as Traditional Igbo Culture Dictates
Veteran Nigerian actor Kanayo O. Kanayo has taken a public stance on traditional Igbo culture by blessing his son, Clinton Mbaise, as per ancestral customs. Kanayo, known for his versatility in the Nigerian movie industry, recently introduced Clinton, his first son, to the audience, revealing that Clinton would be joining his esteemed production company, Simpliciter Associates Productions.
During the announcement made through a video shared on his Instagram page, Kanayo emphasized that Clinton Mbaise should be treated no differently from other members of the production crew. He sternly warned against any preferential treatment, stating that Clinton is there to work and earn his due diligence.
Highlighting Clinton’s academic achievements, Kanayo highlighted that his son recently graduated with a degree in Information and Communication Technology from Babcock University. Additionally, Clinton furthered his studies in filmmaking and management, showcasing his commitment to honing his skills in the cinematic arts.
Embracing Igbo culture, Kanayo O. Kanayo performed a traditional blessing ceremony on his son after Clinton received his first salary of N50,000. In a gathering at their home, the actor reiterated the cultural importance of a father’s blessing, emphasizing that only a father can truly bless his child, not a religious leader.
The ceremony signifies the passing down of wisdom and financial management teachings from father to son, a practice deeply rooted in Igbo traditions. Kanayo urged individuals to seek the blessing of their fathers on such occasions, highlighting the cultural significance and dismissing the need to seek blessings from pastors for such personal milestones.
