Lewis Morgan Receives Late Call-Up to Scotland Euro 2024 Squad
Greenock footballer Lewis Morgan has been given a surprise call-up to the Scotland squad for the upcoming Euro 2024 tournament, adding a new dimension to Steve Clarke’s team just days before the event kicks off in Munich, where Scotland will face hosts Germany.
Morgan, who currently plays for MLS side New York Red Bulls, last appeared for Scotland in a friendly under Alex McLeish back in 2018 against Peru. He joins the likes of Greg Taylor, another former Celtic player, within the provisional squad.
The 27-year-old winger has notched up nine goals since the MLS season began and brings a wealth of experience to the team. He is set to feature in Scotland’s final warm-up game against Finland at Hampden as he gears up for a potential return to international action.
Morgan’s addition further bolsters the squad, which now stands at 28 players, leading Clarke to finalize his 26-man squad later, after trimming two names off the current roster.
The announcement of the full squad is scheduled for Saturday, with the players then heading to their base camp in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Germany. The inclusion of Morgan adds depth and flexibility to Clarke’s options as Scotland prepares for a challenging tournament.
