Mizzou Football Hires Chip Lindsey as New Offensive Coordinator
COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri announced Sunday the hiring of Chip Lindsey as the new offensive coordinator for the Tigers football team. Lindsey, who comes to Mizzou with 28 years of coaching experience, is expected to enhance the team’s offensive strategy.
Head football coach Eli Drinkwitz expressed his enthusiasm for Lindsey’s arrival. “We are excited to welcome Chip Lindsey to Mizzou to lead our offense,” Drinkwitz said. “He does a tremendous job of not only coaching and developing players but organizing and implementing the offense.” Lindsey previously served as the offensive coordinator at Michigan, where he significantly improved their offensive performance.
Lindsey’s coaching resume includes positions at several major programs, including North Carolina and Auburn. He notably developed first-round NFL draft pick Drake Maye during his tenure at UNC, helping the team achieve an impressive offensive record. In 2024, the Tar Heels averaged over 32 points per game and led the ACC in rushing offense.
Regarding his new role, Lindsey shared, “What Coach Drinkwitz has done at Mizzou over the past six years is remarkable. The commitment the University of Missouri has made to the football program makes this one of the most attractive coordinator jobs in the country.”
In addition to his recent success at Michigan, where his offense ranked among the top nationally for both rushing and passing, Lindsey’s previous roles include offensive coordinator at UCF and head coach at Troy. He aims to bring his successful track record to Mizzou as they prepare for the upcoming season.
