TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – As of Feb. 13, 2025, at 4:30 a.m., the northwest Ohio region is under various snow emergencies due to hazardous road conditions. The classifications range from Level 1 to Level 3, each indicating the severity of travel risks for residents.
According to local law enforcement agencies, a Level 1 Snow Emergency is currently in effect for some areas, signaling that roadways are hazardous due to blowing and drifting snow. Drivers are advised to exercise caution as icy conditions may also be present.
A Level 2 Snow Emergency escalates concerns, suggesting that road conditions have worsened substantially. Residents should only travel if absolutely necessary and should consult with their employers regarding work obligations. This level encourages individuals to remain at home whenever possible.
The most critical designation, Level 3 Snow Emergency, restricts all non-emergency personnel from using roads altogether. Authorities emphasize that travel should only occur in extreme necessity, as individuals may face consequences including being pulled over or arrested for violating these emergency guidelines.
These snow emergency levels are initiated by law enforcement to ensure public safety and encourage citizens to avoid travel on unplowed or unsalted roads. Fewer vehicles on the roads contribute to better safety for emergency responders and those who need to travel. Residents are strongly urged to check local updates and take necessary precautions during these severe weather conditions.
In a recent update, Washington County Sheriff Mark A. Warden announced on Feb. 12, 2025, at 3:40 p.m. that the Level 2 Snow Emergency has now been downgraded to Level 1. Sheriff Warden reiterated the importance of cautious driving as road conditions remain slick and potentially dangerous.
