Southern California Braces for Cooler Temperatures, Rain, and Snow Ahead of Thanksgiving
Southern California is preparing for a significant change in weather as a maritime polar air mass moves into the region, bringing cooler temperatures, light rain, and even snow in some areas over the weekend.
According to forecasts, Los Angeles and Orange counties can expect highs of around 70 degrees on Wednesday, but temperatures will drop to the low 60s by the weekend. On Friday, these areas are anticipated to see highs of about 64 degrees with a 20% chance of rain.
The valleys and the Inland Empire will experience cooler temperatures, with highs of 61 degrees and a 30% chance of light rain. Beach communities will see highs of 59 degrees, also with a 20% chance of rain. The mountains will be particularly cold, with daytime highs of just 36 degrees and a chance of 1-2 inches of snow at elevations over 5,000 feet.
Desert communities are expected to see highs of 56 degrees, accompanied by a 20% chance of showers. This cooler and wetter weather pattern is a stark contrast to the recent warm conditions and is expected to impact the region just before the Thanksgiving holiday.
Following the weekend, the weather is forecasted to return to warmer conditions with the return of the Santa Ana winds starting on Tuesday.
