Angel City Fc Vs Chicago Stars June 2025

LOS ANGELES, CA — Angel City Football Club (ACFC) hosts the Chicago Stars on Saturday, June 7, at 7:00 p.m. PT at BMO Stadium. The game will be available for streaming via ION and AM980 KFWB will broadcast the match in English and Spanish.

Angel City enters the match coming off a 2-3 loss against Racing Louisville FC, where forwards Alyssa Thompson and Riley Tiernan scored for ACFC. On the other side, Chicago lost 1-3 to Kansas City Current, with midfielder Shea Groom scoring the lone goal for the Stars.

In their last matchup on September 1, 2024, Angel City defeated Chicago 2-1, bringing their all-time record against the Stars to 3-2-2 (W-L-D). Currently, ACFC sits in seventh place with a 4-4-2 record, while Chicago is in 14th place with a dismal 1-8-1 record, having found only one win this season.

A significant factor affecting Chicago’s performance this season is the absence of U.S. Women's National Team forward Mallory Swanson, who is out due to pregnancy. She was a key player for the Stars last season, contributing seven goals and four assists in 2024. Chicago has struggled offensively without her, netting just six goals this season, the least in the league, and has conceded a league-high 22 goals.

In response to their poor start, Chicago parted ways with Head Coach Lorne Donaldson after just six games. Assistant Coach Masaki Hemmi has taken over as interim head coach. Meanwhile, ACFC has recently hired Alex Straus as their new head coach after his successful tenure with Bayern Munich.

Straus, who won three consecutive Frauen-Bundesliga titles with Bayern, faces the challenge of leading ACFC back on track after their inconsistent season so far. The match against Chicago presents a potential opportunity to secure much-needed points.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. PT, and fans are eager to see how the new leadership of Angel City will impact the game.
