Texas A&M Remains Unbeaten; Key SEC Matchups This Weekend
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – No. 3 Texas A&M heads to Columbia, South Carolina, this Saturday to face No. 19 Missouri in a crucial SEC showdown. The Aggies, boasting an 8-0 overall record and 5-0 in conference play, remain the only undefeated team in the SEC. Missouri, standing at 6-2 and 2-2 in the conference, will be without starting quarterback Beau Pribula due to a dislocated ankle.
Freshman Matt Zollers will step in as the starting quarterback, having completed 14 of 23 passes for 138 yards and one touchdown in a previous game against Vanderbilt. While Texas A&M is favored by 7 points according to BetMGM Sportsbook, the loss of Pribula poses a significant challenge for Missouri.
In another SEC matchup, LSU faces No. 4 Alabama. Coming off a much-needed break, the Crimson Tide are 7-1 overall and 5-0 in the SEC after a string of victories against tough opponents. They are 10-point favorites against LSU, which recently fired head coach Brian Kelly and will now play under interim head coach Frank Wilson.
Current statistics show Georgia’s CJ Allen leading the conference in total tackles with 69, while Ole Miss running back Kewan Lacy ranks first in the SEC with 13 touchdowns this season. Texas A&M also leads the nation in defending third downs, allowing just a .222 success rate for opponents.
The SEC coaching landscape is also shifting. Auburn‘s dismissal of head coach Hugh Freeze marks the fourth coaching change this season, alongside Arkansas’s Sam Pittman, LSU’s Brian Kelly, and Florida‘s Billy Napier. Meanwhile, Ole Miss’s Lane Kiffin is rumored to be a top candidate for several coaching vacancies despite denying interest.
As the regular season continues, all eyes will be on these pivotal matchups, particularly as teams aim for a strong finish and potential playoff spots.
