Chad Powers Hulu Series Glen Powell

LOS ANGELES, CA — Hulu has announced the renewal of its comedy series “Chad Powers” for a second season, featuring Glen Powell as the lead character. The announcement came on Wednesday, just over a month after the series concluded its first season on October 28.

The show is inspired by Eli Manning‘s “Eli’s Places” segment from ESPN, where he went undercover in prosthetics at a Penn State football tryout. In “Chad Powers,” Powell portrays Russ Holliday, a former Oregon quarterback whose career takes a damaging turn after a critical mistake in the national title game. Eight years later, he attempts to reclaim his football dreams by disguising himself as the quirky Chad Powers, who joins the struggling South Georgia Catfish.

The first season, which debuted on September 30, quickly garnered popularity, ranking No. 34 among Luminate’s Top 50 streaming shows during its premiere week. The following week, it climbed to No. 19, accumulating 2.2 million hours viewed across its first two episodes.

Alongside Powell, the series stars Perry Mattfeld as Ricky, Quentin Plair as Coach Byrd, Wynn Everett as Tricia Yeager, Frankie A. Rodriguez as Danny, and Steve Zahn as Coach Jake Hudson. The series was co-created by Powell and Michael Waldron, known for his work on “Loki” and “Heels.” Executive producers include the Manning brothers, Jamie Horowitz, Ben Brown, and others.

The finale left viewers with a cliffhanger, where Chad and the Catfish face off against the Georgia Bulldogs, heightening the stakes as Russ’s secret identity hangs in the balance. Waldron indicated that the next season will pick up right after the events of the first season, hinting at a real-time storyline.

Fans can now look forward to Season 2, which is expected to continue exploring the football journey of the South Georgia Catfish as new challenges arise for both Russ and his alter-ego, Chad Powers.
