Al Horford Celtics Starting Lineup 2025

DENVER — Al Horford will join the Boston Celtics‘ starting lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Denver Nuggets, replacing Derrick White, who is sidelined due to illness. The decision was reported by Justin Turpin of WEEI.com.

Horford, a veteran forward, has been a reliable presence for the Celtics this season. In his last 10 starts, he has averaged 8.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 29.1 minutes per game. His inclusion in the starting five comes as the Celtics aim to maintain their competitive edge despite White’s absence.

The Celtics, who boast one of the most formidable starting lineups in the NBA when fully healthy, have struggled with bench depth this season. Their reserves rank 26th in the league, averaging just 30 points per game. Payton Pritchard, a Sixth Man of the Year candidate, has been a bright spot, but the team lacks consistent secondary scoring options.

Horford’s role has been crucial, particularly as a floor-spacing big man. However, his 3-point shooting has dipped recently, with a 28.9 percent success rate from beyond the arc since December 1. This has highlighted the need for additional offensive support, especially from the bench.

The Celtics’ front office, led by president of basketball operations Brad Stevens, faces mounting pressure to address the team’s depth issues ahead of the trade deadline. Potential targets include players with scoring ability and athleticism, such as former Net Lonnie Walker IV, who is currently playing overseas.

As the Celtics prepare to face the Nuggets, Horford’s experience and versatility will be key to countering Denver’s strong frontcourt. The game tips off at 9:38 p.m. ET on Tuesday.
