Comedian Thrives With Adhd On The Stand Up Stage

I’ve always been a natural in the spotlight, from my days sermonizing in church to captaining my high school’s debate team. The transition to comedy clubs was seamless, and soon I found myself signed on to a local, all-female show.

Stand-up comedy, with its unpredictability and quick wit demands, has never daunted me. The adrenaline rush of performing live, facing hecklers, and doing crowd work is where I truly shine.

On stage, the pressure is immense, and often things go off-script. However, with a trusty bulleted list and quick thinking, I seamlessly navigate any slip-ups or unplanned detours during my set.

Rolling with the punches is the essence of stand-up comedy, and for someone like me, it’s where my ADHD brain excels the most. The ability to think on my feet and improvise keeps my sets authentic and engaging.

Crowd work is another playground for me. Every new audience presents a fresh canvas for teasing, and navigating hecklers becomes a fun challenge to keep the show light and entertaining.

Performing on stage allows me to truly express myself and be seen for who I am. It’s a space where my quirks and spontaneity are not just accepted but celebrated.
