Former Australian batsman Matthew Hayden has raised concerns over Chennai Super Kings’ all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja‘s performance in the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

CSK faced off against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in a high-intensity match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, where Jadeja managed to score a quick 31 off 23 balls, contributing to CSK’s total of 165 for 5.

Hayden pointed out that Jadeja, known for his explosive batting, seemed to be lacking his usual ‘flow’ in this IPL season. The all-rounder has amassed a total of 84 runs in three innings, but with a slightly lower strike rate of 140.

While analyzing the match, Hayden suggested that CSK could have strategically sent England’s Moeen Ali up the batting order instead of Jadeja, who batted at number 5 in the match against SRH. This decision was made ahead of experienced players like Daryl Mitchell and legendary captain MS Dhoni.

Expressing his thoughts on the matter, Hayden mentioned, “Jadeja hasn’t quite been there, his overall flow is not there. On a venue like this, when you’ve got to have that flow and rhythm, I thought there was an opportunity to play Moeen Ali.”

The defending champions, Chennai Super Kings, have had a mixed start to the IPL 2024 season with two wins and one loss. With discussions around their batting order and player performance brewing, fans are eager to see how the team navigates the challenges ahead in the tournament.

Star Sports, the broadcasting partner of the IPL, has been closely following and analyzing the matches, providing insights from experts like Matthew Hayden to enhance the viewing experience for cricket enthusiasts.
