United Australia Party Senator, Ralph Babet, has sparked controversy by calling for the deportation of the comedy rock band Tenacious D from Australia following a controversial remark made about former U.S. President Donald Trump.

The band, famous for hits like ‘Tribute‘ and co-founded by actors Jack Black and Kyle Gass, faced backlash after Gass made the comment during a Sydney concert shortly after Trump’s assassination attempt.

After the incident, concert promoters Frontier Touring announced the postponement of Tenacious D’s Newcastle show.

In response to a video circulating on social media showing Gass saying, ‘don’t miss Trump next time’ as he blew out his birthday candles, Senator Ralph Babet condemned the apparent call for political violence.

Babet labeled Gass’ statement as not a joke and demanded that Australia’s Immigration Minister, Andrew Giles, take action to revoke the band’s visas and deport them immediately.

The United Australia Party senator’s strong stance has triggered a debate surrounding free speech and political commentary in the country.
