Michael Corleone Blanco: The Legacy of the Cocaine Godmother
Michael Corleone Blanco, the son of notorious drug lord Griselda Blanco, continues to captivate viewers’ attention even after the release of the Netflix series ‘Cocaine Godmother’. The show, starring Sofia Vergara as Griselda, delves into the life of the Colombian drug lord who rose to power in Miami during the 1970s and 1980s.
While Sofia Vergara portrayed Griselda as a complex character driven by a desire for power and a need to protect her family, many viewers are left wondering about the real Michael Corleone Blanco and his relationship with his mother. Michael, Griselda’s fourth son and the only child with Darío Sepúlveda, is the sole surviving member of the infamous family.
Currently residing in Miami with his three children, Michael has carved out a lifestyle brand called ‘Pure Blanco’, which focuses on fashion, movies, music, and cannabis. However, his life hasn’t been without its share of turmoil.
In 2012, Michael was arrested for cocaine trafficking, but he subsequently rebuilt his life and even appeared on VH1‘s ‘Cartel Crews’. He has discussed his mother extensively in various media and is set to release a book titled ‘My Mother, The Godmother, and The True Story’.
Days before the premiere of ‘Cocaine Godmother’, Michael filed a lawsuit against the creators of the Netflix series for unauthorized usage of his likeness and artistic literary work. He and his wife seek damages and an emergency injunction to block the release of the show.
Explaining his rationale for taking legal action, Michael stated, ‘I feel that it’s my duty to do it. And if I didn’t, I wouldn’t be keeping my word to my OG, to my mother. I’m just holding it down for the family – and I’m doing it legally.’
He expressed his disappointment with the prosthetics used to transform Sofia Vergara into Griselda, emphasizing that his mother was a beautiful woman. Michael also criticized the public perception of Griselda solely based on her mugshots, highlighting her former reputation as the ‘porcelain doll’ courted by mayors, governors, and politicians.
Michael’s lawsuit asserts that his mother wanted him to carry out and benefit from her life story in artistic and literary productions. While acknowledging his own public figure status, Michael strives to uphold his mother’s intentions and aims to share the whole truth about their family’s history.
