AbaThembu King Dalindyebo’s Political Allegiance Shift Sparks Speculation

King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo’s political allegiance has once again come into focus as he attends an ANC election rally in the Chris Hani region. The traditional leader of the AbaThembu people, known for his shifting political views, has spurred speculation by sporting ANC t-shirts at the event.

His presence at the rally alongside prominent figures like Oscar Mabuyane, the Eastern Cape Premier, and other ANC leaders has raised questions about his potential return to the ANC fold.

Throughout the years, King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo has been associated with various political parties, including the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), with whom he shared a stage in March.

Previously linked to the Democratic Alliance (DA) in 2013, his membership was terminated following legal issues, including a conviction that led to his departure from the party.

Figures like Hellen Zille, former leader of the DA, characterized King Dalindyebo’s initial support for the opposition as significant, given his lineage descending from Nelson Mandela.

Despite his past ties with different parties, King Dalindyebo’s recent appearance at the ANC rally has sparked speculation about his potential reconciliation with the ANC.

Statements from ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula on social media praising the king’s presence at the event have added weight to the rumors of his return to the party.

Having previously been expelled from the ANC in 2013, King Dalindyebo’s shifting loyalties have often kept the political landscape guessing about his next move.
