Minnesota Vikings Linebacker Eric Wilson Returning

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — The Minnesota Vikings have reinforced their defense by signing linebacker Eric Wilson, a familiar face who began his NFL career with the team. The deal was confirmed on March 14, 2025, though financial details are not yet disclosed.

Wilson, originally an undrafted free agent from the University of Cincinnati in 2017, made a significant impact during his first tenure with the Vikings. He played in all 64 regular season games from 2017 to 2020, including 15 starts in the 2020 season. After leaving Minnesota, Wilson spent the 2021 season with the Philadelphia Eagles and the last three years with the Green Bay Packers.

During his recent stint with Green Bay, Wilson emerged as a core special teams player while also contributing over 500 defensive snaps last season. His versatility makes him a valuable asset as the Vikings look to enhance their linebacker depth.

The Vikings’ current linebacker situation includes Blake Cashman and Ivan Pace Jr., but with Kamu Grugier-Hill entering free agency, Wilson’s return provides essential depth. “Eric brings a wealth of experience and familiarity with our system, which we believe will be invaluable,” a team spokesperson stated.

As free agency progresses, the Vikings continue to strengthen their roster. Fans can stay updated on the team’s activities and signings through reliable sports news sources. The Vikings’ proactive approach signals a commitment to competing at a higher level in the coming season.
