Addison Rae Unveils New Single ‘Fame Is a Gun’ Ahead of Album Release

LOS ANGELES, CA — Addison Rae has unveiled her latest single, “Fame Is a Gun,” as part of the promotional rollout for her debut album, set to release on June 6. This marks the fifth single from her upcoming project, “Addison.”
The song explores themes of fame and its complexities. In the catchy chorus, Rae sings, “Fame is a gun and I point it blind / Crash and burn, girl, baby, swallow it dry / You got a front row seat, and I / I got a taste of the glamorous life.” The music video features vibrant scenes where Rae indulges in a feast while interspersed with shots of her handling a silver gun.
After rising to fame on TikTok, Rae began her music career in 2021 with the single “Obsessed,” which did not perform as expected, leading to the scrapping of her initial album. She later signed with Columbia Records and enjoyed success with tracks like “Diet Pepsi,” which became a viral hit.
Each song from the “Addison” album has been co-written with songwriters Luka Kloser and Elvira Anderfjärd, who are known for their collaboration with Max Martin. Rae mentioned in an interview with Rolling Stone that the process was surprising, as her musical influences often leaned towards the underground.
“This album is about movement,” Rae stated, emphasizing that there would be no slow or sad songs. She has focused on bringing authenticity and vulnerability into her lyrics, guided by Martin’s insights on sharing personal truths.
The anticipation for Rae’s album is high, with the new single showcasing her evolution as an artist. Viewers can catch the “Fame Is a Gun” music video online, ahead of the full album release next week.
