Luis Henrique Struggles to Find Form for Sousa in Série D

Sousa, PB – Luis Henrique, the key signing for Sousa’s Série D campaign, has yet to hit his stride. The forward returned to the team after a standout performance in 2023. He joined Sousa on loan from Ferroviária in April, expected to play a crucial role on offense. However, after nine matches, he has only scored once.
The single goal came during a 4-0 victory over Ferroviário, a match that stood out in an otherwise disappointing season for Sousa. Besides this game, Luis has struggled to find consistency alongside teammates Diego Ceará and Ian Augusto in the attacking lineup. Fans had high hopes that Luis’s return would boost the team’s creativity, but those expectations have not been met.
Luis Henrique’s prospects were bright after his impressive 2023 season, where he was one of the stars of the Paraibano and was in contention for the tournament’s MVP. He maintained a solid performance in Série D, making 31 appearances and scoring nine goals, which helped elevate him to Ferroviária. However, his return to Sousa has not translated into similar success.
Currently, Sousa is at the bottom of Group 3 in Série D, with just seven points from nine games. The team’s record shows two wins, one draw, and six losses, leaving them in a precarious position for a spot in the G-4. With five matches left in the first phase, time is running out for Luis and the team.
The lack of results has intensified changes within the club. The latest addition is William De Mattia from Treze, who aims to turn the season around for the club celebrating its centenary.
