North Carolina’s Seth Trimble Out Indefinitely Following Injury
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – North Carolina men’s basketball player Seth Trimble will be out indefinitely after suffering a broken bone in his left forearm. The injury occurred during a team workout on Sunday, according to the university.
Trimble, a senior guard and team captain, will undergo surgery this week, and the school will determine his timetable for return afterward. Coach Hubert Davis expressed his disappointment regarding Trimble’s situation. “So sad for Seth,” Davis said. “He’s such a great kid and teammate, and has worked so hard for his senior year.”
In two games this season, Trimble has been a key player, averaging 14.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game, while shooting 44 percent from the field. His notable performance included leading the Tar Heels to victory against Kansas, where he scored 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
Trimble’s role is especially vital, as he is the only returning starter for North Carolina. His absence will likely lead to increased responsibilities for other players, including Montenegrin guard who has recently been cleared to play.
UNC will face off against Radford on Tuesday night, and the team will need to adjust without Trimble’s leadership on the court. Trimble was spotted attending the game despite being in a cast and appeared to be in good spirits, even signing autographs for fans.
“The good news is he will be back at some point this year,” Davis added. “I know he will continue to be a great leader for us until he can get back in the lineup.”
