Aaron Rodgers to Sign Footballs for Steelers Rookie Beanie Bishop After Impressive Performance
Pittsburgh Steelers rookie cornerback Beanie Bishop Jr. made a significant impact in the team’s Week 7 victory over the New York Jets, intercepting Aaron Rodgers twice, marking the first pair of interceptions in his career. Despite his impressive performance, Bishop had an additional wish – he wanted Rodgers to sign the footballs from the interceptions. However, due to the chaos after the game, Bishop was unable to get the signatures on the field.
In a heartwarming gesture, Aaron Rodgers has agreed to fulfill Bishop’s request. During his weekly appearance on a media outlet, Rodgers stated that he would find a way to sign the footballs for the young cornerback. “Yea, I can do that,” Rodgers said, showing his sportsmanship despite the loss.
Bishop’s interceptions were crucial in the game. His first interception came with just over a minute left in the first half, setting up the Steelers’ offense for a touchdown-scoring drive. The second interception occurred immediately after Pittsburgh took a 16-15 lead in the third quarter, with Bishop nearly taking the ball to the house before being tackled by Davante Adams at New York’s 1-yard line.
Bishop, an undrafted free agent, has quickly emerged as a valuable asset for the Steelers. He has started two games, primarily operating out of the slot position, and has shown consistent improvement week over week. His performance has earned him recognition, including being named a ‘young riser’ by ESPN.
