After a stunning performance at UFC 300, reigning light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira has expressed eagerness for a swift return to the Octagon.

Following his victorious title defense against Jamahal Hill, Pereira hinted at the possibility of a heavyweight bout at UFC 301, scheduled to take place in his native Brazil on May 4.

Having recently made history by becoming a two-division UFC champion, Pereira showcased his readiness for potential challenges in a heavier weight class.

Pereira, confident in his physical condition after the fight with Hill, indicated his desire for a swift turnaround, citing that he was uninjured and prepared for another fight.

However, in a press briefing post-fight, UFC President Dana White revealed that Pereira had incurred a broken toe during training for UFC 300, highlighting potential concerns about the fighter’s health should he rush into contention at heavyweight.

White expressed reservations about Pereira moving up to the heavyweight division, cautioning against the move given the competitiveness and challenges endemic to the weight class.

Despite White’s reservations, Pereira’s ambition and success in multiple weight classes within the UFC position him uniquely for potential future accomplishments and milestones in the sport.

The upcoming UFC 301 event in Brazil features a flyweight title clash between reigning champion Alexandre Pantoja and challenger Steve Erceg, as well as the return of UFC Hall of Famer Jose Aldo.
