Andy Dalton Carolina Panthers Contract Signing

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Quarterback Andy Dalton has signed a two-year contract with the Carolina Panthers worth up to $10 million, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The deal, which includes $6 million guaranteed, comes as Dalton prepares to enter his 14th NFL season.

Dalton, 37, played an integral role in the Panthers’ quarterback room last season. He started five of the six games in which he appeared and became a key mentor for Bryce Young, the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Young had struggled early in his rookie season, leading to Dalton taking over as starter.

In his first start of the season, Dalton threw for 319 yards and three touchdowns, contributing to a decisive 36-22 victory. However, after losing four consecutive games, he sustained a thumb injury in a car accident prior to a Week 8 matchup. Dalton lost the starting role to Young, who subsequently led the Panthers to consecutive wins and showcased steady improvement the rest of the season.

Overall, Dalton completed the 2025 season with 989 passing yards, seven touchdowns, and six interceptions, boasting a completion percentage of 66.3%. His experience is seen as pivotal in providing stability as Young takes over as the franchise quarterback.

“The Panthers and Andy Dalton reached an agreement on a two-year deal,” Schefter reported. “Dalton has developed a close relationship with Young, and both players will continue to collaborate as they prepare for the upcoming season.”

Dalton, a second-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, has amassed an impressive career total of 39,500 passing yards, along with 253 touchdowns and 150 interceptions. He has been named to the Pro Bowl three times over his career.

The Panthers are counting on Dalton’s veteran presence to support Young as he transitions into a starting role in the NFL.
