Colo Colo Vs Atlético Bucaramanga Copa Libertadores

Santiago, Chile – Atlético Bucaramanga will take on Colo Colo this Thursday as they try to stay in contention for the Copa Libertadores 2025. The match takes place at the Estadio Monumental in Santiago starting at 8:30 p.m. local time.

Bucaramanga currently sits third in their group with six points, which already guarantees them a spot in the Copa Sudamericana playoffs. However, a victory against Colo Colo could lead to a more significant prize: advancing to the knockout stages of the Libertadores. For that to happen, they also need Argentine leaders Racing, who have ten points, to defeat Brazilian side Fortaleza.

The Colombian team, one of the surprises of this phase, seeks its second away win of the tournament, similar to their previous victory against the Sudamericana champions in Argentina. Fabián Sambueza, an Argentine midfielder for Bucaramanga, expressed optimism ahead of the match, stating, “The expectations are high. We are very eager and hopeful to bring back qualification.”

In a lineup change, Bucaramanga will welcome back Venezuelan player Leonardo Flores, who replaces Argentine Diego Chávez after their recent 0-0 draw against Fortaleza in Brazil.

On the other hand, Colo Colo stands at the bottom of the group with only two points and is looking to end their disappointing campaign on a high note. Following a challenging year and recent heavy losses, including a 4-0 defeat to Fortaleza, the Chilean team is poised to play for pride.

This match is particularly crucial for Colo Colo as it marks their centenary year. Arturo Vidal will not participate due to an expulsion in a previous game. Despite playing without fans due to a suspension, Colo Colo managed to boost their morale with a recent 4-1 victory in the Chilean league.

The two teams previously met earlier in the tournament where they played to a thrilling 3-3 draw. This match will be key for both teams, with one seeking advancement and the other aiming to restore honor.
