Barcelona‘s promising young midfielder, Marc Bernal, suffered a serious knee injury during a recent match against Rayo Vallecano on Tuesday evening. The injury occurred in the final minutes of the game, significantly impacting both the outcome of the match and the team’s future prospects.

In a tense moment during the 99th minute, Bernal collided with Rayo midfielder Isi Palazón, resulting in him immediately being ruled out with an inability to put weight on his left leg. Despite the injury, Barcelona managed to secure a hard-fought 2-1 comeback victory, marking their third consecutive win to begin the La Liga season.

Bernal, aged just 17, had been a standout performer for the team, showcasing immense talent and earning a vital role in coach Hansi Flick‘s lineup. His absence from the midfield could pose challenges for Barcelona as they navigate ongoing injuries to key players, including Frenkie de Jong and Gavi.

Hansi Flick acknowledged the substantial impact of Bernal’s injury, stating that it overshadowed the team’s victory. He expressed concerns regarding the severity of the injury and emphasized the need for further assessment in the coming days.
