Bengals Re-sign Quarterback Logan Woodside for Upcoming Season

CINCINNATI, Ohio — The Cincinnati Bengals announced on Wednesday that they have re-signed quarterback Logan Woodside to a one-year contract for the 2025 NFL season. Originally drafted by the Bengals in the seventh round of the 2018 draft, Woodside has spent multiple seasons in the league, including stints with the Tennessee Titans and Atlanta Falcons.
Woodside, standing 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing 210 pounds, has played in 13 regular-season games, primarily as a backup. After being released from Cincinnati following his initial training camp in 2018, he went on to make his NFL debut with the Titans in 2020. During his time in Tennessee, he demonstrated reliability, appearing in 11 games over two seasons before joining the Falcons.
In the 2024 season, Woodside was part of Cincinnati’s practice squad but did not see any game action. His experience with the Bengals includes a return to the team last year, although he did not take the field during that time.
The Bengals currently have Joe Burrow as their starting quarterback, with Jake Browning serving as the primary backup. Woodside’s signing adds depth to the quarterback position as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
“Logan has been a valuable asset to our team, and we are excited to have him back,” said Bengals Head Coach Zac Taylor. “He brings experience and knowledge to our quarterback room, which is essential as we continue to build our roster.”
In his career, Woodside has made 14 pass attempts across seven NFL seasons, statically not among the most recognized backup quarterbacks. Nevertheless, his persistence in maintaining an NFL career speaks volumes about his work ethic and ability to adapt. The Bengals’ decision to re-sign him was influenced by the need for continuity in the quarterback room, especially following recent roster moves.
Woodside’s NFL journey started at the University of Toledo, where he showcased his talent before being selected by the Bengals. After spending a year with the Titans, where he was part of the practice squad and later the active roster, he joined the Falcons in 2022, playing minimal games there as well.
With Woodside’s return, the Bengals bolster their quarterback options as they approach the 2025 season. The team aims to develop a strong backup plan behind Burrow while continuing to support Browning, who impressed last season with a completion rate of 70.4%. Woodside’s seasoned presence may prove advantageous as Cincinnati looks to compete in a challenging AFC North division.
