Brentford Refuse Loan Deal for Everton Target Onyeka
Brentford Football Club has decided not to allow Frank Onyeka to leave the club on loan amidst interest from Everton. The Standard’s journalist, John Kinsella, reported that Brentford is only open to a permanent transfer for the midfielder.
A number of clubs, including Girona, Reims, Fulham, and Everton, have shown interest in signing Onyeka during the January transfer window. However, Brentford is determined not to assist a domestic rival by agreeing to a cut-price loan deal.
Everton, in particular, had hoped for a loan move rather than a permanent deal for Onyeka. The 26-year-old Nigerian international has been a key figure for Brentford this season, featuring in 18 matches across all competitions. His importance is not only limited to the club level, as he also plays a significant role in the Nigerian national team’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign.
Despite the interest shown by competing clubs, Brentford’s stance remains unchanged, leaving Everton and Fulham disappointed in their pursuits. Fulham, currently holding a two-point lead over Brentford in the Premier League table, and Everton, five points behind Thomas Frank‘s side, will have to search for alternative options.
This news underlines Brentford’s commitment to their current squad and their determination to consolidate their position in the league. While the speculation surrounding Onyeka’s future is expected to continue until the transfer deadline, it is unlikely that a loan deal will be reached with any interested club.
Brentford’s refusal to allow Onyeka to leave the club on loan represents a significant blow for Everton’s transfer plans. Similarly, Fulham faces disappointment in their pursuit of the midfielder. Both clubs will now have to explore other avenues to strengthen their squads.
