Brooklyn Nets Set to Begin Preseason in San Diego against LA Clippers
The Brooklyn Nets are poised to commence their preseason gameplay with a match against the Los Angeles Clippers. This encounter marks the first of four preseason games scheduled before the regular season kicks off on October 23, 2024.
The Los Angeles Clippers are undergoing a transitional period following significant changes during the offseason. As part of their preparations, they are set to take on the Nets in San Diego. Notably, the Clippers have relocated their G-League team to San Diego, and the game will be held at the newly inaugurated Frontwave Arena, prominently located on Hero Drive. This 7,500-seat venue is reportedly a state-of-the-art facility designed to host numerous sporting and entertainment events.
Notable absentees from the Nets lineup include Nic Claxton, Day’ron Sharpe, Trenton Wadford, and Bojan Bogdanovic. Similarly, the Clippers will be without Kawhi Leonard and Trentyn Flowers due to injuries. Mo Bamba is expected to return, adding some depth to the Clippers’ squad.
PJ Tucker’s absence from the Clippers is another talking point. Reports indicate that Tucker and the Clippers have mutually agreed that he will not rejoin the team until a suitable trade or new opportunity arises, as he seeks to contribute to a championship-contending team.
Excitement is building within the Nets’ camp as young player Noah Clowney is set to take on a more prominent role this season. Clowney, who has shown promise during his tenure with the Long Island Nets in the G-League, is expected to further his development with the main team. Additionally, Cui Yongxi is anticipated to make his unofficial debut, becoming the seventh Chinese-born player to play in the NBA. It is customary in Chinese culture that the family name is positioned before the given name, thus making his name officially Cui Yongxi, with ‘Cui’ for second references.
Similarly, Ben Simmons aims to reestablish himself within the league as he attempts to carve out a substantive role with the Nets, having faced some challenges in recent seasons.
