Bruce Springsteen Lost Albums Announcement

NEW YORK, N.Y. — Bruce Springsteen is set to unveil seven previously unreleased albums on June 27 as part of a project dubbed Tracks II: The Lost Albums. This collection spans 83 songs recorded between 1983 and 2018, with 74 tracks never before officially released.

In a statement, Springsteen shared his excitement, saying, “The Lost Albums were full records, some of them even to the point of being mixed and not released. I’ve played this music to myself and often close friends for years now. I’m glad you’ll get a chance to finally hear them. I hope you enjoy them.”

The compilation was assembled during the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing the iconic musician to reflect on his career. Notable entries include the LA Garage Sessions ’83, showcasing Springsteen’s transition from the raw sound of Nebraska to the more polished Born in the U.S.A. Other albums like Streets of Philadelphia Sessions will explore a combination of genres, incorporating drum loops and synthesizers influenced by hip-hop.

Springsteen’s discography is rich with unreleased material, and the new collection aims to provide insights into both his artistic journey and the evolution of home recording technology. “The ability to record at home whenever I wanted allowed me to go into a wide variety of different musical directions,” he explained.

A physical edition of Tracks II will include a 100-page book filled with rare photos and liner notes penned by essayist Erik Flannigan, along with a personal introduction from Springsteen. A separate selection titled Lost and Found: Selections from The Lost Albums will feature 20 notable tracks from the collection and is expected to drop on the same date.

Reflecting on the archives, Springsteen mentioned that, despite perceptions of a lost period in the ’90s, he was actively creating. He remarked, “I really, really was working the whole time.” The upcoming release is anticipated to resonate with fans, highlighting songs that have circulated in bootleg form for years but will now be available in studio quality.

As the 75-year-old artist prepares for his European tour, which includes stops in Manchester and Liverpool, he reaffirms his commitment to live performances. “I’ll keep playing live until the wheels come off,” he said, despite acknowledging the need to scale back due to personal circumstances.

Fans eager for a preview can listen to “Rain in the River,” a track from the album Perfect World, released earlier as a taste of what’s to come. Tracks II: The Lost Albums promises to add rich chapters to Springsteen’s legendary narrative, delivering a treasure trove of music for both long-time followers and new listeners alike.
