Bucks Prepare for Playoff Showdown Against Pacers Amid Player Uncertainty

INDIANAPOLIS – The Milwaukee Bucks are set to face the Indiana Pacers in Game 1 of the NBA playoffs on Saturday, April 18, 2025, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The Bucks, without all-star point guard Damian Lillard due to deep vein thrombosis, are looking to capitalize on their recent success while addressing key lineup changes.
Brook Lopez, who rested during the Bucks’ regular-season finale, is available for the playoff opener. Lopez averaged 13.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and nearly two blocks per game this season, providing essential experience and skill in the paint.
Milwaukee concluded the regular season as the No. 5 seed in the Eastern Conference with a record of 48-34. This achievement was bolstered by an impressive eight-game winning streak, despite Lillard’s absence. However, the team’s prospects appear precarious as they face a formidable Pacers team that finished fourth with a 50-32 record.
“It’s all about seizing the opportunity right now,” Lopez said. “We believe we can go far, but we need each other to step up.”
As Lillard remains sidelined, Ryan Rollins will step into a crucial starting role for the Bucks. His performance may dictate the team’s chances against the Pacers, who entered the playoffs on a strong note, winning 20 of their last 29 games after the All-Star break.
Star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo has stressed the importance of overcoming Lillard’s absence, stating, “We’ve built this team for games like this. It’s up to us to make it work.” In the regular-season finale against the Detroit Pistons, Antetokounmpo showcased his skills, scoring 12 points in a challenging first quarter.
The Pacers, thriving offensively, shot an impressive 66 percent during their last game, which has raised concerns for the Bucks’ defensive strategy. “We need to be ready to match their intensity; they are a dangerous team,” Lopez added.
Despite managing pain in his left shoulder and right knee, the MVP candidate continues to prepare for a potential return. “I’ve been doing live contact drills. The moment I feel ready, I will play,” Lillard expressed, providing a glimmer of hope for Bucks fans.
The first playoff matchup will tip off at noon, with the game broadcast on FanDuel Sports Network Wisconsin and ESPN. Indiana is favored by 5.5 points, with an over/under set at 224.5, reflecting the anticipated high-scoring nature of the series.
