Labubu Plush Toy Theft Incident

LA PUENTE, Calif. — A surge in demand for the Labubu plush toy has led to a costly burglary at One Stop Sales, a small resale shop in La Puente. On Wednesday morning, masked thieves broke into the store and stole merchandise valued at approximately $30,000, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The break-in occurred around 2 a.m. Surveillance footage shows four suspects smashing through the front door and targeting only Labubu dolls, which have gained immense popularity on social media.

Joanna Avendano, co-owner of One Stop Sales, shared her shock in an Instagram post. “We worked so hard to get to this point, and for them to just come in and take it all away, it’s really bad,” she said. The thieves are believed to have been monitoring the store’s social media for updates on new inventory.

Avendano described feeling a “gut feeling” to check her phone during the burglary, where she witnessed the theft live through her security camera. “I was panicking because I was just… I couldn’t do anything,” she recalled.

Only months after opening, the shop specializes in collectible items including those from Pop Mart, the manufacturer of Labubu. These plush toys have become a viral sensation, partly due to endorsements by celebrities.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the incident. Officials found a white pickup truck linked to the burglary but have not reported any arrests. Anyone with information can contact the Industry Station at (626) 330-3322.

Avendano continues to hope that tips will lead to the identification of the suspects. “They were aiming just for the Labubus,” she said. “They know because they took the most valuable stuff.”
